FMCSA Post-Accident Drug and Alcohol Testing Determination App
This professional industry app was developed to provide step-by-step guidance in making the drug and alcohol testing determinations that are required by the United State Department of Transportation after all accidents involving public transit vehicles regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
The FMCSA requires that all accidents be evaluated to determine if the post-accident drug and alcohol testing is required. These requirements are outlined extensively in 49 CFR Part 382.
This app was developed for use by owner-operators, fleet safety managers, or any company official authorized to be involved with post-accident investigations.
This app provides questions that navigate the decision-maker through the regulatory considerations to determine if the federally-regulating testing thresholds have been met after accidents involving DOT-covered vehicles. The questions are presented with binary answer-options, but reaching these answers requires professional judgment.
Once the decisions are made, an email is sent to the DER, DAPM, your Third Party Administrator (TPA) or any email address designated with a brief description of the accident.
